Dan Nimmer is an American jazz pianist, composer, and educator based in New York City.

He is best known as the longtime pianist with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and the Wynton Marsalis Quintet/Septet as well as leading his own trio.

Born in 1982 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Nimmer began playing piano by ear after his family inherited a piano. He studied classical piano before developing a deep interest in jazz, while also performing professionally throughout the Milwaukee area.

After graduating from high school, Nimmer attended Northern Illinois University to study music. He quickly became one of Chicago’s busiest young pianists, performing extensively throughout the city’s vibrant jazz scene. His growing reputation eventually led him to move to New York City, where he quickly established himself as an important presence in the jazz community.

In 2005, just one year after relocating to New York, Nimmer joined both the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and the Wynton Marsalis Quintet, beginning a long-standing collaboration with one of the world's premier jazz organizations.

Throughout his career, Nimmer has performed and recorded with an impressive range of artists, including Jimmy Cobb, Norah Jones, Willie Nelson, Renée Fleming, Houston Person, Fareed Haque, George Benson, and Lewis Nash, among many others.

Nimmer has released six trio albums on the Venus Records label in Japan. He continues to perform internationally with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and Wynton Marsalis while also leading his own trio.
